Map Quiz – Bangladesh: Divisions

Questions: Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet

Bangladesh is currently divided into eight major administrative divisions. These divisions form the highest level of internal administration and are used for governance, planning, and statistics.

Bangladesh is planning to add two new administrative divisions — Faridpur Division and Cumilla Division — which would increase the total number of divisions from eight to ten. The proposed Faridpur Division would comprise the districts of Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajbari, Gopalganj and Shariatpur currently in Dhaka Division. The proposed Cumilla Division would include Brahmanbaria, Cumilla, Chandpur, Feni, Laxmipur and Noakhali districts from the existing Chattogram Division. These changes are being considered by the government and recommended by the Public Administration Reform Commission in an effort to improve local governance and administrative efficiency, though final approval is still pending from relevant national committees.
