This map quiz focuses on the capitals of the 193 member states of the United Nations.

Each UN member state has one officially designated capital city, which serves as the seat of government. The quiz includes countries from all world regions: Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Only UN member states are included. Observer states and other territories are excluded.

When the UN was founded in the 1940s, its membership was much smaller and consisted mainly of countries in North and South America, much of the Middle East, and parts of Europe. Since then, decolonization and political change have significantly reshaped the world map, and many newly independent states have joined the organization.

The aim is to test and reinforce knowledge of world capitals based on current international recognition.
