Central America consists of seven independent countries linking North and South America. The region has coasts on both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, and a rich cultural heritage shaped by indigenous peoples, colonial history, and modern societies.

In Costa Rica, the capital is San José, a hub for the country’s culture and education. Panama has Panama City, famous for the Panama Canal and international trade. Finally, Belize has Belmopan as its capital, a planned city that replaced Belize City after a hurricane in the 1960s.
