Spain is divided into 50 provinces, spread across 17 autonomous communities. The Pyrenees in the north form a natural border with France, and the Sierra Nevada in the south is home to the country's highest mainland peak, Mulhacén. The central plateau, known as the Meseta, dominates much of Spain’s geography, while coastal provinces like those in Andalusia and Catalonia feature Mediterranean beaches.

The Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands off the African coast are known for their unique volcanic landscapes and beaches. Spain’s geography also includes iconic rivers like the Ebro and Guadalquivir and picturesque lakes such as Sanabria Lake, highlighting its diverse terrain.
