Map Quiz – Alaska: Boroughs And Census Areas

Questions:

Alaska is unique in that it does not have traditional counties. Instead, the state is divided into 19 organized boroughs and a vast Unorganized Borough, which covers more than half of Alaska's land area. The organized boroughs function similarly to counties in other states, providing local government services such as law enforcement, education, and infrastructure maintenance. The largest borough by area is the North Slope Borough, covering much of northern Alaska, while the most populous is the Anchorage Municipality. The Unorganized Borough has no central government, and services are provided directly by the state or regional entities. Due to Alaska's rugged terrain and sparse population, many boroughs have large, remote areas with limited road access.
