Take on the challenge: 218 questions about the counties and unitary authorities of the United Kingdom. (The term “Great Britain” is sometimes used informally, but it technically refers only to the island containing England, Scotland, and Wales).

Recent administrative reforms in England have led to the splitting of some counties into new unitary authorities. In 2021, Northamptonshire was replaced by North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire. In 2023, Cumbria was divided into Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness. These changes were introduced to simplify governance and improve the efficiency of local administration.
