This quiz helps you learn the names and locations of all 14 districts of Nauru.

Nauru is a small island country in the Pacific Ocean and one of the world’s smallest independent states. The country is divided into 14 districts, which are used for administrative and statistical purposes. Unlike many other countries, Nauru does not have official cities or provinces.

The districts are located around the narrow coastal strip that surrounds the island. Yaren is commonly regarded as the country’s unofficial capital because many government offices are located there. Other districts, such as Aiwo and Denigomodu, are among the most populated areas of Nauru.

In 2026, Nauru’s parliament approved a constitutional amendment proposing that the country should officially change its name to “Naoero”, based on the traditional name used in the Nauruan language. Supporters of the change say that “Nauru” is a version shaped by foreign pronunciation during the colonial period. The proposal still requires approval in a national referendum before the name can officially change.
