Europe has a varied physical geography shaped by mountains, plains, peninsulas, islands, rivers, and surrounding seas. Its coastline is highly irregular, with large peninsulas such as the Iberian, Italian, Balkan, Scandinavian, and Jutland peninsulas extending into the Atlantic Ocean and its adjoining seas.

Major mountain systems include the Alps, Pyrenees, Caucasus Mountains, and Ural Mountains. Much of northern and eastern Europe, however, consists of lower terrain, including the vast North European Plain, which stretches across a large part of the continent.

Europe's major rivers include the Volga, Danube, Rhine, and Seine. The Volga is the longest river in Europe, while the Danube crosses or borders numerous countries on its way to the Black Sea. Seas such as the Mediterranean, Baltic, North, Norwegian, Barents, Adriatic, and Aegean surround or extend deep into the continent.

This quiz covers important physical features of Europe, including mountain ranges, rivers, seas, islands, peninsulas, plains, and straits. Learning their locations provides a broad overview of the continent's physical geography.
