Comoros is an island country in the western Indian Ocean, located in the northern part of the Mozambique Channel between the African mainland and Madagascar. The islands are volcanic in origin and have mountainous landscapes and tropical climates.

The sovereign state of Comoros consists of three main islands: Grande Comore, also known as Ngazidja; Anjouan, or Nzwani; and Mohéli, or Mwali. Grande Comore is the largest island and contains Moroni, the national capital.

Mayotte, or Maore, is geographically part of the Comoros archipelago but is administered by France. Comoros claims sovereignty over Mayotte, while the island's population has repeatedly voted to remain part of France.

This quiz covers the principal islands of the Comoros archipelago. Learning their locations provides a useful introduction to the geography of this group of volcanic islands in the western Indian Ocean.
