Uzbekistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia, bordered by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan. Its landscape includes extensive deserts, fertile river valleys, and mountainous areas in the east.

Uzbekistan has 14 first-level administrative divisions: 12 regions, the autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan, and Tashkent City, which is administered separately from the surrounding Tashkent Region.

Karakalpakstan occupies a large area in northwestern Uzbekistan near the Aral Sea. The eastern part of the country includes the densely populated Fergana Valley, which is shared with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Samarkand and Bukhara are historic cities that developed along important trade routes, while Tashkent is the national capital and largest city.

This quiz covers the first-level administrative divisions of Uzbekistan. Learning their locations provides a useful introduction to the country's administrative geography and the different landscapes of Central Asia.
