In George Orwell’s novel 1984, the world is dominated by three rival superstates that are locked in a constant struggle for power. Their borders form one of the most famous fictional political maps in modern literature.

The United Oceanian States control the Americas, the British Isles, southern Africa, Australia and many oceanic territories. Oceania is ruled by the Party and its leader, Big Brother.

The Eurasian Union stretches across Europe and northern Asia. It emerged after political upheaval and military expansion united much of the Eurasian continent into a single authoritarian state.

The People’s Federation of Eastasia includes China, Japan, Korea and neighboring parts of East and Southeast Asia. Eastasia is the third major power in the world of 1984.

Some parts of the world remain disputed territories. These contested regions are fought over repeatedly by the three superstates and are described in the novel as areas of endless war.

In this fictional geography quiz, your task is to identify the superstates and disputed regions on the map inspired by Orwell’s dystopian world.
