Ethiopia is a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa and one of the largest and most populous countries on the continent. Its landscape ranges from high mountains and plateaus to the lowlands of the Great Rift Valley and the arid regions of the east.

Ethiopia is a federal country divided into regional states, along with the chartered cities of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa. The regions differ greatly in size, population, languages, cultures, and physical geography.

Ethiopia's administrative map has changed significantly in recent years. Sidama became a separate regional state in 2020, the South West Ethiopia Peoples' Region was established in 2021, and the former Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region was replaced by the South Ethiopia and Central Ethiopia regions in 2023.

This quiz covers Ethiopia's current regions and chartered cities. Learning their locations provides a useful introduction to the country's federal structure and the diverse geography of the Horn of Africa.
