South Sudan is a landlocked country in northeastern Africa that became independent from Sudan in 2011. Since 2020, the country has been divided into ten states, two administrative areas, and one area with special administrative status.

The ten states and three administrative areas are grouped geographically into three historical regions: Bahr el Ghazal, Equatoria, and Greater Upper Nile. These regions were formerly provinces of Sudan and remain useful for describing the different parts of South Sudan.

The current administrative structure was established as part of a peace agreement in February 2020. Each of the ten states is headed by a governor, while the administrative areas are headed by chief administrators.

This quiz covers all ten states and the three administrative areas of South Sudan. Learning their locations provides an introduction to the country's current administrative geography and its three historical regions.
