North Macedonia is divided into 80 municipalities, which form the country's main local government units. In addition, the city of Skopje has a special status and consists of several municipalities that together make up the national capital.

The municipalities vary greatly in size and population. Some, such as Bitola, Kumanovo, and Tetovo, are major urban centers, while others consist mainly of small towns and rural communities. Municipal governments are responsible for local services such as education, urban planning, and infrastructure.

North Macedonia is a geographically diverse country with mountain ranges, valleys, lakes, and agricultural regions. Lake Ohrid in the southwest is one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes, while the Vardar River valley forms the country's main transportation corridor.

The current municipal structure was established through a series of local government reforms, including a major reorganization in 2004 that reduced the number of municipalities and adjusted many boundaries.

This quiz helps you learn the names and locations of the municipalities of North Macedonia.
